Thoughts from an Autumn Vacation

It’s the beginning of the most magical time of the year. Happy October 1!

Endless coffee, frosty mornings, and my first Inktober.

The drawing challenge has been on my radar for a while, but I always seem to miss the beginning. I end up waiting for the next one. This year I marked my calendar, and, if you would believe it, I’m managing to relaxon vacation in the middle of nowhere (aka Circle, Alaska).

Stepping away from the monotony on occasion makes all the difference for me.

I want so badly to fill my sketchbook today-- I’ve been counting down the days until this drawing challenge, and the fresh air has done me good. Being less busy, I can let my mind wander and appreciate the funny little shapes, tones and colors that inspire me in nature. I’m taking my time and soaking it all in, so that I can bring it back to the studio with me when I get home. In the meantime, I have drawing to do, and Agatha Christie mysteries to read!

Signing off for now,
